Abstract

|
Horizontally impacted mandibular second molar is a rare but challenging situation for clinicians. Many treatment modalities were proposed and presented in articles that include use of surgical repositioning, orthodontic traction and uprighting, autotransplantation, extraction and etc. The proper treatment method decision is upon case-by-case observation as like other orthodontic decisions. This case report is aimed to present another biomechanical option utilizing TMA spring attached to the mandibular main archwire to provide distal uprighting force to the horizontally impacted mandibular second molar. aTwo successfully treated cases are presented treated with the proposed treatment modality.
